There is another side. It lives upside down and parallel to this one. There is a force akin to dimensional gravity that keeps both halves spinning around each other in an orbit generated by possibility.
There is no multiverse. There are only two.
There are not a myriad of decisions available at every crossroads. There are only two.
Each Earth is the result of the other Earths decision-paths not taken.
The light at the end of the tunnel is a pinhole camera that twists the soul upside down and throws it through the neck of the hourglass into the other universe.
There are a finite number of souls.
Right now, there are just over two million people on the other Earth. That’s not very many people.
A balance was struck for millennia but this Earth has grown in population too much, too fast.
People who die on this earth are floating around in a queue to get back to the other Earth but someone must be born for that soul to go through into another body. The population of that other earth is dwindling as souls are drained for this greedy Earth that we live on.
The flow is too heavy in our direction. When that other Earth runs out of souls, the balance will be too far in our direction and the connection will be broken.
There are only two million people on this planet with the ability to make choices. The rest of the people who have no counterparts in the other Earth are on rails. The only have the illusion of choice. It’s up to the two million decision makers to save us from snapping the cord that keeps us connected to that other Earth.
If that cord snaps, we will neither be able to procreate or die. We will become a race of barren immortals. The other Earth will become a wasteland. Our ability to choose paths will be taken away from us. This is a curse not visited to many races.
This is the mechanism put in place by the beings that created us to give us free will. This is the mechanism put in place by the beings that created us to test us.
An apocalypse is needed to restore souls to the other Earth and regain the balance. At this point, we will not be able to redress the balance without drastic action.
One of the two million people who can still make decisions here has to start a massive cull of the population for the good of us all.
