This dragon had furniture. Now when I say furniture, I don’t mean the kind of furniture that we humans use. Not chairs and such.
The dragon had made posts to scratch itself with. It had a chandelier hanging in the middle of the cave that it could light with a gust of flame. It had petals of polished metal all around its giant bed of gold and jewellery to reflect the glints to make the cave alive with flecks of light.
All of these things were made, of course, of armour. The armour of hapless knights who had tried their luck and failed. Melted, sculpted, plied when soft, scoured and buffed. They were quite nice. The dragon had an artist’s touch.
The dragon’s giant alien golden eyes could watch the reflections glinting in the depths of its cave for days. It had an almost autistic focus. Only the arrival of another knight, hunger, or a passing wave of greed could shake it awake.
Who likes to draw dragons? Who likes to win toys?
