I've come to love this guy. I'm on the train. Especially with pieces like this. I was raised by a Scottish father who was in charge of the teacher's union in my small town and made stained glass for churches in his off time. He had red hair like Trudeau and in his younger days, I'd be three years old in his arms and look from the television at a waving Trudeau and then up to my father. I think I thought they were related. Canada used to be that place. The good place. I think it still is. But we need to be vigilant. It's eroding. And we can't let that happen.

Man, CFSW kicked ass.

Well, here's his website.

http://www.cravery.com/

His albums Magic Hour Sailor Songs and Chainsmoking Blues are up on iTunes if you do a search. Also a few tunes on Amazon. He does shows around here now and again. He tours a lot, too. He was on one of Vancouver's very first Slam teams back in the early 00s and he blew everyone's mind. He also does a mean beatbox harmonica.

I'm glad to hear it. It's pretty linear and attacking Canada's patriotism is a bit of a dead horse after Mulroney, Thatcher and Reagan were all in power at the same time and drafted the NAFTA agreement but I like his delivery. Plus you can't tell from the footage but the finals were held in a church so it made it all the more resonant.

Oh. My. Crap.

I have -heard- so much about CR Avery, but this is my first time actually listening to something of his.

I am dumbfounded and awe-struck.
